there’s a difference between character development and completely changing your character’s personalities with no explanation
I think Neal-fans (firethieves) and myself, thought season 3 was going to be Neal’s season.
I think storywise, Neal is much as important as Emma Swan(the leading character). They’re both similar and have similar backgrounds. She’s the Savior, he’s the Reason of the Dark Curse.
I was thinking of Baelfire, the character, and I realized I think Baelfire is the first or only character in the show who we see him as a kid to an adult. We know a LOT about Baelfire’s lifetime. He’s sorta like a main character. (Oddly we don’t see Emma as young girl yet or her solo flashback ep.)
S1 was introducing Baelfire. S2 was who and where is Baelfire.
Then there was S3 where they decided to end it. I think that was wrong for them to do that. To me, they were like leading up to something bigger for Baelfire. He’s like next big leading character of OUAT, but they shut it down cold in a shitty OOC death ever.
*eta: When I watched the s2 finale, it made me really interested in Neverland arc. The s2 finale’s 2 parts were focused a lot on Baelfire! Which makes me think Baelfire/Neal would become a bigger part of the OUAT story. I thought s3 would show a lot of Hookfire and Neverlanders and Baelfire’s time with the Lost boys & Peter Pan(and that cave he was hiding in) and learning about the drawing picture of the boy (which is his future’s son). Also thought it could show more of Henry and more agency to him. Of course s3 wasn’t like that.
Based on what we did see in S3, it’s like we should’ve known in a way that they don’t care for Baelfire anymore.
